Webinar (legal review of food insecurity caused by the war in the Gaza Strip)

The Peace and Food Security Association together with International Studies Journal and Politics World Publications and the European University of Armenia held a webinar titled Legal Review of Food Insecurity Caused by the War in the Gaza Strip on April 14, 2024.

In this webinar, which was held about Gaza and the challenge of food insecurity faced by citizens due to the war, the speakers and lecturers included Dr. Gohar Adonts from the European University of Yerevan, who discussed crimes against humanity in the context of the International Criminal Court; Professor Dr. Amir Maghami, who addressed the issue of genocide in Gaza and the International Court of Justice; and Dr. Hanan Balala, who emphasized that food scarcity (famine) constitutes a crime against humanity.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Adkanian, who first spoke about the difficult humanitarian challenge in Gaza, which has caused millions of people to suffer, and the many problems in providing aid. Additionally, he highlighted the danger faced by Israeli hostages. Dr. Gohar Adonts then delivered a speech, discussing issues related to crimes against humanity and drawing parallels with a speech about the Nagorno-Karabakh challenge. Following that,  Dr. Amir Maghami provided detailed information about the issue of genocide and the complaints filed in the International Court of Justice regarding Gaza. Among other topics, South Africa’s lawsuit against Israel was mentioned. The third speaker, Dr. Hanan Balala, addressed the scarcity of food as a crime against humanity and emphasized the terrible hardships faced by the people of Gaza.

The purpose of this meeting was to examine the legal-humanitarian nature of this horrific human event in the Gaza Strip and request the world to look again at this human-made hell without political and religious biases
